Bringing a web app to the finish line
SledTRX brought an initial version of their website that was mostly functional but lacked polish and user-friendliness. We started our work with web app development to refresh and reimagine the existing site, using React to craft an intuitive, modern design that appeals to outdoor adventurers of all skill levels.
We integrated Mapbox’s interactive mapping system to replace the earlier version, bringing customized, visually appealing mapping to the app. The new site features a fully operational trip builder — an exciting addition that allows users to log in, plan their adventures, add trail segments, points of interest, and customize their routes. Additionally, a dedicated “Backcountry” section provides essential information on snowmobiling and ATV riding, helping users prepare for safe and enjoyable excursions.
To make sure it wasn’t a headache for SledTRX to manage content, we integrated a robust administration area. This backend empowers them to manage all trail data centrally, enabling easy updates and addition of new trail information collected from the field. The seamless integration ensures trail information stays current, enriching the user experience with accurate, up-to-date maps and trip details.
Bringing trails to new heights with mobile app development
Building on the success of the web platform, SledTRX envisioned a mobile app compatible with both iOS and Android devices. We adopted React Native, a flexible framework for creating cross-platform apps, to develop an engaging mobile experience. The mobile app mirrors core features of the website, providing users with an interactive map overview, trail details, and trip planning capabilities right from their smartphones.
And in a big step for SledTRX’s growth, we also integrated subscriptions into the mobile app using RevenueCat, enabling SledTRX to easily offer premium features and generate recurring revenue across iOS and Android. By using the built-in payments systems on both platforms, users can access the service on a monthly, seasonal, or annual basis with just a few taps.
